The prostate is a small, walnut-sized gland that is found only in men. Located below the bladder, around the urethra, the prostate is responsible for the production of some of the fluids that make up semen. This fluid lubricates, protects and nourishes sperm – making it a key part of male fertility; and the muscles of the prostate also help push semen through the urethra upon ejaculation.
